Buxton Photo Challenge 2024 took place on a pleasant day in July, as part of the Fringe Festival. We had 45 participants, including many first-timers, all enjoying the weather as well as Buxton’s Day of Dance. Our event was thoroughly enjoyed by all, we even received an excellent Fringe review from one of our participants!
This is the second year where participants could chose to use either a camera or phone. The popularity of phone photography was exemplified by 17 entrants and resulted in half of the placed images, clearly demonstrating the versatility of this pocket-sized camera.
We have partnered with the Fringe for a number of years and are happy to be part of the exciting programme of events that make Buxton in July a great place to visit. Many of our entrants found out about the event from the Buxton Festival Fringe booklet. We also welcomed a group from SheClicks community for female photographers, who relished the challenge.
All the images were reviewed by 3 judges, who selected their favourite images for each theme. The votes were added up, and the following images most impressed them on the basis of their inventive and creative interpretation of the theme, as well as their overall quality and composition. A big thank you to everyone that showed up and took part, we hope to see you all again next year.
Some of the other great images can be found on the Buxton Photo Challenge Facebook page.
